A college student training to be a nurse saved a woman who had collapsed, helping her regain consciousness when no other pedestrians stopped to help.

According to Yonhap News Agency, a woman fell unconscious at around 5:45 p.m. on Sept. 17, at an overground structure of Guro Station in Seoul. Baek Yeong-seo, a 24-year-old junior in the nursing department at Bucheon University, checked the woman's pulse and aided her breathing by unbuttoning her shirt.

Baek then helped her up and monitored her condition for 30 minutes. The woman regained consciousness, thanked Baek and went on her way.

Baek said everyone seemed to think the woman was a drunk, but she saw that the woman was not presenting symptoms of a typical drunk person. "Even though I don't yet have my (nursing) license, I thought I should help first," she told Yonhap News, adding that the basic life support and other training at school helped.

Baek said she is training to be a nurse to help others, and said that she will remember how the woman grabbed her hand and thanked her after regaining consciousness.
