Proposed Bill: Partial Amendment to the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection

  • This bill would impose an administrative fine of up to 3 percent of sales on information and communications service providers that knowingly fail to report or delay the reporting of a security incident, fail to submit required materials or submit false information, refuse or obstruct an investigation or violate an order to preserve materials.

Pending Bill: Partial Amendment to the Act on Prohibition of Age Discrimination in Employment and Elderly Employment Promotion

Proposed by Rep. Lee Yong-woo (Democratic Party of Korea)

  • This bill would raise the statutory retirement age to 65 and stipulate the State’s duty to provide support, such as the payment of incentives to employers that extend the retirement age.

Promulgated Bill: Enforcement Decree of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection

Competent Authority: Korea Communications Commission

  • This bill requires mobile virtual network operators, regardless of size, to report the appointment of a chief information security officer, and mandates telecommunications business operators that resell mobile telecommunications services to obtain certification for their information security management systems.
