The number of female executives at South Korea’s top 100 listed companies reached a record 476 this year, according to a report by headhunting firm UnicoSearch. Among these firms, 79 have at least one female board member, with Samsung Electronics leading at 80 female executives.
국내 상장사 100대 기업의 여성 임원 수가 올 들어 476명으로 집계돼 역대 최대치를 기록했다. 헤드헌팅 업체 유니코서치의 보고서에 따르면, 이들 기업 가운데 79곳은 여성 등기임원을 최소 1명 이상 보유하고 있으며, 삼성전자가 여성 임원 80명으로 가장 많았다.
The figure represents a 2.8 percent increase from 463 in 2024. Though the total number of executives across the top 100 firms fell by 1.3 percent (98 people) year-on-year, the number of female executives still rose by 13. The survey covered the top 100 listed companies by sales, using data from their semi-annual reports.
여성 임원 수는 지난해 463명보다 2.8% 증가한 수치다. 특히 100대 기업 전체 임원 수가 전년 대비 98명(1.3%) 감소했음에도 여성 임원은 오히려 13명 늘어난 것으로 나타났다. 이번 조사는 100대 상장사를 매출 기준으로 선정해 이들의 반기보고서를 분석한 결과다.
The report highlighted steady progress over the past two decades. Female executives numbered just 13 in 2004, surpassed 100 in 2013 and have increased almost every year since, except for a brief dip in 2014.
보고서는 지난 20년 동안 여성 임원 증가 흐름이 꾸준했다고 강조했다. 2004년 13명에 불과했던 여성 임원은 2013년 100명을 넘어섰고, 2014년 일시적 감소를 제외하면 거의 매년 증가세를 이어왔다.
The number of companies with female executives also grew from 10 in 2004 to 37 in 2015, 60 in 2020 and 79 in 2025, reflecting South Korea’s gradual but ongoing improvement in gender diversity at the executive level.
여성 임원을 둔 기업 수도 확대됐다. 2004년 10곳에서 2015년 37곳으로 늘었고, 2020년에는 60곳, 2025년에는 79곳까지 증가하며 국내 기업들의 경영진 성별 다양성이 점진적으로 개선되고 있는 흐름을 보여줬다.
